Divisions for Beginner, Novice, Intermediate and Advanced Athletes.
Kata, Kobudo, Kumite, and Synchronized Kata

FREE T-Shirts for each athlete registered on or before March 23, 2015.

Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Merit Ribbons awarded to each Youth for participation.

Outstanding Athlete awards to the Most Outstanding Youth Male & Female, Junior Male & Female, Adult Male & Female.

This year will be awarding 1 athlete for the Most Outstanding Inspirational Award in honor of Colleen Higgins-Melendez.

Dress code: Athletes must wear a solid white gi. Sleeves and pants must be hemmed to appropriate length (no rolled up sleeves or pant legs). Only an AAU Karate patch or no patch may be worn on the left chest.

Officials: grey slacks, a white shirt, a blue or red tie, black shoes, and a blue blazer.

Coaches: white gi pants, athletic shoes, and a team or coaches’ shirt or jacket.

DIVISIONS

Athletes are placed in their appropriate division according to their time in training and their date of birth. (Whatever age your athlete will be on or before July 1, 2015, is the age they will be categorized in, ie; If your athlete is 9 years of age on or before the day of the event, but turns 10 years of age by July 1, 2015, they will be entered into the 10 year old division).

Less than 12 months of training are BEGINNERS.
12 months but less than 24 months are NOVICE.
24 months but less than 48 months are INTERMEDIATES.
48 months and beyond are ADVANCED.

Mandatory Equipment: Headgear with face shields for all athletes 17 and under, mouth guards for all, groin cups for all male fighters, naugahyde knuckle pads for all.

Optional Equipment: Shin and instep guards for juniors, shin guards for adults, chest protectors for female and junior fighters (worn under gi), certified sport glasses with strap or soft contact lenses only, and face shields attached to helmets.

Disallowed items: Headbands, jewelry, colored t-shirts, and metal hair clips. No long and/or dirty fingernails, or rolled up sleeves and/or pant legs.

The following age groups and categories will serve as a basic guideline. We reserve the right to combine divisions where necessary.

Kata and Kumite Divisions
6 and Under Beginner/Novice

Synchronized Kata Divisions may be mixed genders 11 and under, 12-14, 15-17, 18 and up

Kobudo and Synchronized kata divisions maybe combined with Male and Female age and skill appropriate athletes.

ALL Divisions are subject to being separated or combined based on number of athletes.



Medical Release:
By clicking the "I Agree" you are electronically signing this agreement indicating that you have read, and understood the terms and conditions, refund policy, and release of liability, you are 18 years of age or older or the parent or legal guardian of the minor registering for this tournament or event. In the case of registering a minor you attest that the name entered as the parent or legal guardian is the name of the person accepting the agreement and you are in fact the parent or legal guardian of the registered minor.

Athlete Waiver/Release Form (Agreement)
In consideration of being permitted to participate in any way in the 2015 PN AAU Karate District Championships and qualifier for USA/AAU Karate Nationals and/or the AAU Jr. Olympic Games, I, for myself, my personal representatives, assigns, heirs, and next of kin:
1. Acknowledge, agree, and represent that I understand the nature of the Activity and that I am qualified, in good health, and in proper physical condition to participate in the activity of karate. I further agree and Warrant that if at any time I believe conditions to be unsafe, I will immediately discontinue further participation in the Activity.
2. Fully understand that (a) athletic activities (karate) involve risks and dangers of serious bodily injury, including permanent disability, paralysis, and death (risks); (b) these Risks and dangers may be cause by my action or inactions, the actions or inactions of others participating in the Activity (karate), the condition in which the Activity takes place, the negligence of the “RELEASEES” NAMED BELOW: (c) there may be other risks and social and economic losses either not known to me or not readily foreseeable at this time and I FULLY ACCEPT AND ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS AND ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOSSES, COSTS, AND DAMAGES I incur as a result of my participation or that of the minor in the Activity.
3. HEREBY RELEASE, DISCHARGE, AND COVENENAT NOT TO SUE The Amateur Athletic Union of the USA Karate, USA Karate Academy, Edmonds School District, Joni and Alan Sharrah, including related affiliated and subsidiary companies of each, as well as the officers, directors, agents, employees, and assigns of each, lessors of premises on which the Activity take place. FROM ALL LIABILITLY, CLAIMS, DEMANDS, LOSSES, OR DAMAGES ON MY ACCOUNT CAUSE OR ALLEGED TO BE CAUSED IN WHOLE OR IN PART BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE “RELEASEES”OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING NEGLIGENT RESCUE OPERATIONS, NEGLIGENT SECURITY, TRAVEL AND RECREATIONAL OPERATIONS AND ACTIVITIES: AND I FURTHER AGREE that if, despite this RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF RISK, AND INDEMNITIY AGREEMENT I, or anyone on my behalf, makes a claim against any of the Releasees, I WILL INDEMNIFY, SAVE, AND HOLD HARMLESS EACH OF THE RELEASEES from any litigation expenses, attorney fees, loss, liability, damage, or cost as which any may incur as the result of such claim.
Agreement to Participate
I, or we, grant to the Directors, Assistants, or assigned chaperones of this event to act as guardians/spokesmen in granting permission for emergency treatment/hospitalization (including anesthesia) if necessary for myself or my child en route to or from or at the site of karate event or hospital or other medical facility. I understand that should a health emergency arise, I will be attempted to be notified, but that if I cannot be reached by telephone, such medical treatment as deemed necessary by competent medical personal is authorized.
I hereby authorize the tournament directors to allow the reproduction, dissemination, and/or publication of my name and likeness for media coverage, public relations, or any other purpose which may involve the use of photographs, films and/or video tape recording. This is to be done in conjunction with my participation in this event, nor will I receive any payment for the possible commercial use of my name or likeness.
I REALIZE THAT THERE ARE NOT REFUNDS.
MINOR REALEASE: AND I, THE MINOR’S PARENT AND/OR LEGAL GUARDIAN, UNDERSTAND THE NATURE OF ATHLETIC ACTIVITES AND KARATE AND THE MINOR’S EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES AND BELIEVE THE MINOR TO BE QUALIFIED, IN GOOD HEALTH, AND IN PROPER PHYSICAL CONDITION TO PARTICIPATE IN SUCH ACTIVITY. I HEREBY RELEASE, DISCHARGE, CONVENANT NOT TO SUE, AND AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND SAVE AND HOLD HARMLESS EACH OF THE RELEASEE’S FROM ALL LIABILITY, CLAIMS, DEMANDS, LOSSES, OR DAMAGES ON THE MINOR’S ACCOUNT CAUSE OR ALLEGED TO BE CAUSED IN WHOLE OR IN PART BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING NEGLIGENT RESCUE OPERATIONS AND FURTHER AGREE THAT IF, DESPITE THIS RELEASE, I THE MINOR, OR ANYONE ON THE MINOR’S BEHALF MAKES A CLAIM AGAINST ANY OF THE RELEASEES NAMES ABOVE, I WILL INDEMINIFY, SAVE, AND HOLD HARMLESS EACH OF THE RELEASEES FROM ANY LITIGATION EXPENSES, ATTORNEY FEES, LOSS LIABILITY, DAMAGE, OR COST ANY MAY INCUR AS A RESULT OF ANY SUCH CLAIM.

I HAVE READ THIS AGREEMENT, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING IT AND HAVING SIGNED IT FREELY AND WITHOUT ANY INDUCEMENT OR ASSURANCE OF ANY NATURE AND INTEND IT TO BE A COMPLETE AND UNCONDITIONAL RELEASE OF ALL LIABILITY TO THE GREATEST EXTENT, ALLOWED BY LAW AND AGREE THAT IF ANY PORITON OF THIS AGREEMENT IS HELD TO BE INVALID THE BALANCE, NOTWITHSTANDING, SHALL CONTINUE IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT.
