2 Morning Kumite Sessions with Sensei Kou Matsuhita, Sensei Shin Tsukii & Sensei Kiyohiko Tosa.

Seminar 1 9:00am - 10:30am Kumite Session 1
SHIN TSUKII Sensei “Master of the Match” will focus on:
- “Sliding kumite to jumping kumite”:
1) Kizamizuki 2) One step in gyakuzuki. 3) Egyptian style step and Gyakuzuki
- “Switching legs”:
1) Kick with front front leg 2) Kicking with back leg 3) Kicking with step back 4) Kizami-zuki 5) Gyakuzuki
- “Counterattack with swaying body”:
1) Counterattack with swaying body side to side 2) Counterattack with swaying body back and forth.

Seminar 2 10:35am - 12:05am Kumite Session 2
2 KO MATSUHISA SENSEI “Japanese Scorpion”: will focus on kicking with various drills, strategies, techniques striving for success including his infamous Scorpion Kick!!

Lunch: 12:05am - 12:35pm -- Free to Instructors and Students courtesy Riverview Restaurant

Seminar 3 12:35pm - 2:05pm Sensei Tomohiro Arashiro - Kata
– Emphasis on the secrets and applications of the popular Ryuei-ryu Kata: ANAN

Seminar 4 2:10pm - 3:40pm Sensei Toshihiro Oshiro - Kobudo
– Focusing on Bojutsu and adapting kata and techniques to the skill level of the participants.

Seminar 5 3:45pm - 6:45pm Sensei Cleve Baxter – Referee Clinic (will finish in time for the reception dinner)
(Certification available, with practical portion conducted during the competition on Sunday)

The “Say Oss – Save Japan Through Karate” program led by Kiyohiko Tosa
Sensei (former Japan National Team) will be bringing 100 competitors and coaches to participate!

We welcome and appreciate all officials with any level of USA Karate
certification and those who are seeking familiarity with USA Karate / WKF
rules. Attire for referees and judges will be as provided in USA Karate
regulations.

Modified USA Karate rules will be used for the competition.

There will be a meeting for officials at 8:15 AM on Sunday, March 20th and competition will begin promptly at 9:00 am.

This event is marked by its focus on traditional karate, friendship, learning and great competition. This will be a weekend that will leave positive memories of great competition and the ability to train and compete with the highest caliber of karate-ka.

In the case of registering a minor you attest that the name entered as the parent or legal guardian is the name of the person accepting the agreement and you are in fact the parent or legal guardian of the registered minor.

Adult & Minor Amateur Athletic Waiver and Release of Liability
In consideration of being allowed to participate in any way in the USA Karate athletics/sports program, and related events and activities, the undersigned:
1. Agrees that prior to participating, they (if under 18 Parent or Guardian) will inspect the facilities and equipment to be used, and if the participant and or Parent or Guardian, believes anything is unsafe, they will immediately advise their coach or supervisor or USA Karate or Japan Karate Federation Northwest Ryobu-Kai personnel of such condition(s) and refuse to participate.
2. Acknowledge and fully understand that each participant will be engaging in activities that involve risk of serious injury, including permanent disability and death, and severe social and economic losses which might result not only from their own actions, inactions or negligence but the actions, inactions or negligence of others, the rules of play, or the condition of the premises or of any equipment used. Further, that there may be other risks not known to us or not reasonably foreseeable at this time. Assume all the foregoing risks and accept personal responsibility for the damages following such injury, permanent disability or death.
3. Release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue The USA Karate, Japan Karate Federation Northwest Ryobu-Kai, Mount Hood Community College, its officers, its affiliated clubs, regional sports organizations, their respective administrators, directors, agents, coaches and other employees of the organization, other participants, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessees of premises used to conduct the event, all of which are hereinafter referred to as “releasees” from any and all liability to each of the undersigned, his or her heirs and next of kin for any and all claims, demands, losses or damages on account of injury including death or damage to property, caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the releasee or otherwise.
4. All entries are final, no refunds will he given. I fully understand that any medical treatment given will be of a first aid treatment type only. I consent that any pictures furnished by me or any pictures taken of me in connection with the Tournament can be used for publicity, promotion or television showing now or in the future, and I waive compensation in regard thereto. All participants in any event or class in this Tournament is by permission only. The Director or his authorized agent(s) reserve the right to refuse entry
to any person, school, team or club.
5. PLEASE NOTE: All athletes must be covered by health or medical insurance in order to compete. Participant Secondary Medical Insurance is included as a benefit of USA Karate annual membership. Non member registration fee includes a one-day membership to the USA Karate, which includes Secondary Medical Insurance coverage for the day of the tournament.
6. Statement of Health. By my and/or Parent/Guardian's signature below I confirm that I am in sound health and there is no reason why I cannot participate in this championship and/or event.
