Style of Martial Art: Traditional Karatedo
Sanctioned by: Ryukyukan Karatedo Kobudo Federation

Tournament Background:
Rules will be explained at the referee rules meeting prior to competition. Knockdown rules will be explained prior to the afternoon event. Any protest will be directed to the Tournament Arbitrator, whose decisions are final. Proper uniform is required for all events, no tee shirts/sweats etc.
1. Point Kumite (Modified USA Karate Traditional Kumite Rules):
One, two and three point scoring. Eight points or highest score at end of round wins.
2. Kata (Kata divisions will staged prior to the 9:00 a.m. start time):
All kata divisions will use traditional karate judges, kata must be performed in the traditional Japanese/Okinawan style for the best grade. Kata of other styles that have as their roots the Okinawan Kata of Shorin Ryu, Goju Ryu, Uechi Ryu, or the original Japanese styles are appropriate if performed in the traditional manner. Example: Some Taikwondo katas such as Pinan and Rohai are Okinawa-based, all Shotokan, Shitoryu, and Isshinryu katas have Okinawan roots.
3. Kobudo:
Traditional Okinawan/Japanese forms only; traditional judges/individual point scorecards.
4. Knockdown Karate:
Competitors must read the Knockdown Competition Rules (www.ramtownkarate.com) prior to completing their application. Knockdown competitors must be present by 12 p.m. for roll call, seeding, and weigh-in (at director’s discretion). The Knockdown Rules Meeting and Knockdown Competition will begin immediately after the point kumite.

In consideration of my being permitted to compete in the 18th Annual Ryukyukan Karate and Kobudo Tournament to be held at Dixon High School, Dixon California on Saturday November 6, 2019 (hereafter referred to as the Tournament). I agree on behalf of myself, and my heirs, successors, and assigns as follows:
I agree to abide by the Tournament rules and to accept the official’s decisions.
I release and hold harmless Ryukyukan, Ramtown Karate, Dixon Unified School District, the Tournament, promoters and all the competitors, officers, employees, instructors and representatives from all liability and claims which I may have against any of them for any injury of whatever kind, or death, resulting form my participation in the Tournament or in traveling to, from or about the Tournament, INCLUDING EXPOSURE TO DISEASE AT THE TOURNAMENT, whether or not such claim be based upon negligence of such person or entity.
I accept full financial obligations for medical expenses, incurred for medical, hospitalization and other expenses related to injury or death resulting from my participation in the tournament or in traveling to, from or about the Tournament.
I WILL ABIDE BY AND FOLLOW COUNTY, STATE, AND DIXON UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT RULES AND REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO COVID-19.
I understand that first aid will be offered for any injury incurred at the Tournament (unconsciousness is implied consent) and local Emergency Medical Services will be called if deemed necessary.
I consent to the use, free of any compensation to me, of any photographs or videos taken of me in connection with the Tournament.
Under 18 Years of Age requires approval and acceptance of this Agreement and Release by parent or guardian:
The undersigned, parents or legal guardians of the competitor listed below, have read the foregoing, understand the same and do hereby accept and agree to the terms, conditions and provisions of the foregoing, indemnify on behalf of ourselves and said minor, intending to be legally bound hereby.
